Ah, the wet days is once again upon us, ready to trap us into the cozy interiors of our home and inviting us to snuggle up on the couch with a good cuddle buddy (or a tasty snack). But hey, you can always call up your friends, family and don’t forget to have your unli-stash of popcorn ready.
Here’s a list of our rainy day movie suggestions to brighten up the day.
The Heathers (1989)
Winona Ryder may probably be known today for her role in hit Netflix show, Stranger Things, but back in the late 80s and 90s, Winona gave life to characters who easily became cult favourites. One of them is Veronica Sawyer one of four Heathers in The Heathers.
Although a movie about cliques and winning crowds, The Heathers is not another bubbly high school movie.
A smart and funny classic, based from the board game of the same name. The film follows a group of exclusively rich and shady individuals, all invited to an exclusive dinner party in a large mansion. As the board game goes, a mysterious murder takes place on that rainy night, and all must clear their name by finding out who the killer is.
Rain or shine and whether with the girls or alone, Bridesmaids should be a fun film to watch!
Annie is a single woman who seems to be having her quarter-life crisis a little early. With her best friend getting married, she takes on the role of maid of honor, and goes through the expensive pre-wedding rituals despite her financial problem—all while trying to fend off a competitive bridesmaid from replacing her as maid of honor.
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (1986)
Matthew Broderick is Ferris Bueller, a teen who, one day, pulls all sorts of trickery to skip school and drag his closest friends around Chicago.
Dropping your duties for the day is not exactly something you’d want to do, but hey, when the world gives you an excuse to take a break, take it! Like what Ferris says in the movie, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in awhile, you could miss it.”
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013)
Walter Mitty is an employee at Life magazine, sent on a mission to procure the perfect photo for the magazine’s final and closing issue. So used to a monotonous, routine life and daydreaming scenarios, Walter sees the world in full color and immerses in its exciting beauty.
Beautifully shot and constructed, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is a film that pulls you out of your routine life and encourages you to see and be in the world. For now though—while it is raining outside—yes, you may lie some more and enjoy your popcorn and movies.
