Enjoying optimal images on a TV screen isn’t always about size. It’s a matter of comfort as well!
When choosing a TV, we tend to think that bigger is always is better. Size counts, but should be considered in terms of comfort as well. After all, you want to be able to view optimal images without straining your eyes. Basically, you’ll need to find a screen size that will let you make the most of the high definition the screen has to offer without overwhelming the room, or hurting your vision.
Luckily, there are plenty of options available when it comes to screen size. To get the best viewing experience, consider your viewing distance, the picture quality you want, and of course, your budget.
Computing for the right screen size
Don’t worry, it’s not rocket science! You just have to consider your viewing distance, which is the distance between your television and where you normally sit in front of it. To compute for the ideal screen size, follow the simple formula below:
Maximum TV dimensions = Viewing distance / 1.5
Minimum TV dimensions = Viewing dimensions / 3
So if you’re sitting 10 feet (120 inches) away from the TV, you get a maximum screen size of 80 inches and a minimum of 40 inches. There are plenty of sizes in that range, and that’s where your viewing habits and your budget comes in.
Your lifestyle also plays a big part in your decision. For example, if you have a small family or live alone, a TV in the mid-size category should be okay. On the other hand, if you regularly entertain big groups or have a big family, you would appreciate the larger models.
