13 Reasons Why

The new teen drama mystery is based on the 2007 novel by Jay Asher of the same name. It tells the story of late student Hannah Baker played by Katherine Langford, but follows and stars Dylan Minnette as Clay. He receives the shoebox full of cassette tapes from his classmate and crush Hannah where she explains the reason or rather, the 13 reasons why her peers played a role on her suicide. Selena Gomez will produce the series alongside the Academy Award nominated director of Spotlight, Tom McCarthy.

Here we have another New York Times best-seller book adaptation, this time inspired by the life of OG #Girlboss and Nasty Gal CEO Sophia Amoruso. This upcoming comedy will be created by 30 Rock and Pitch Perfect screenwriter Kay Cannon and executive produced by actress Charlize Theron. Girlboss will follow Sophia, who will be played by Britt Robertson, a rebellious and broke 28 year old who get her break in the fashion business world by selling vintage clothes on eBay.

Dear White People

Dear White People was originally a film released in 2014 hailing from the Sundance Film Festival. It received several accolades including U.S. Dramatic Special Jury Award for Breakthrough Talent and Best First Screenplay. Similar with the film, the show will follow a diverse group of students of color as they tackle issues of race (hence the title) at a predominantly white Ivy League University with incredible honesty and ultra sharp wit, thanks to original screenwriter and director Justin Simien.

Iron Fist

Iron Fist will be Netflix’s fourth Marvel series and it will star Game of Thrones’ Finn Jones as Daniel/Danny Rand. It’s set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe similar with the previous heroes like Luke Cage and Jessica Jones which will eventually lead up to The Defenders. The story will follow Danny’s return to New York City after missing for several years trying to discover more of his family’s history. He fights against evil elements with his kung-fu mastery and his ability to summon the power of the fiery Iron Fist.
