AsiaPOP Comicon is slowly proving itself to be one of the biggest pop culture events in the world! APCC is back and bigger with Netflix as its new partner, and a vibrant roster of guests, activities and gimmicks! Here’s what we know about the upcoming AsiaPOP Comicon 2017.
Some Well-Known Names in Toys and Comics are Coming to Town
AsiaPOP Comicon 2017 is definitely a gathering for the talented geeks and the aspiring artists. APCC is bringing in a pool of internationally-renowned creative geniuses in comics, illustration, and toys. To share their insights, practice, talents and learnings are Quiccs, Alan Quah, Simone Legno, Jason Freeny and, by popular demand, Stanley Lau a.k.a. Artgerm.
The Biggest Cosplay Competition Makes a Return
Comic and pop culture conventions are never complete without the animated presence of cosplayers. And APCC takes note of that, as the event offers a venue for cosplayers to show off their crafting and acting skills, an opportunity to meet and pose with their idols, as well as a chance to win big prizes!
The biggest cosplay competition, CAGE (Cosplay Authority Global Challenge) is back to reward the most impressive cosplays with over US$18,000 in cash and other prizes. This year’s round cosplay idols Haiden Hazard, Philip Odango, Pion Kim, Jin “behindinfinity” and Alodia Gosiengfiao as judges.
A Chance to be Discovered by Marvel Comics
Marvel Comics’s portfolio review is a golden opportunity for aspiring artists to show off and be invited to be part of the monster team. To be headed by Marvel Comics’s VP of International Development & Brand Management C.B. Cebulski, the legendary publisher and studio is out to look for talented pencillers and cover artists.
Happening on August 25-27 at the SMX Convention Center, APCC 2017 has more surprises up their sleeves as they’ve yet to announce their celebrity guests!
